Marlies Myoku
Marlies has dedicated her life to supporting people on their journey towards awakening, embodiment, and sovereignty.
With her kindness and direct guidance, she acts as a lighthouse, illuminating the path towards love and liberation.
Marlies has a depth of experience in both psychotherapy and spirituality. She has worked as a therapist since 1990, and in 2002 she was certified as a Hakomi therapist, putting her at the forefront of the movement for this mindfulness-centered form of somatic therapy. In 2000, Adyashanti asked her to join his lineage, which she humbly accepted.
As founder of Deep Water Sangha, she touches on the feminine face of the Infinite and its quintessential role in wholeness, embodiment, and wisdom. She has many years’ experience teaching meditation, offering retreats, and working internationally as a Hakomi therapist and spiritual teacher.
Alongside her studies with Adyashanti, Marlies’ work is inspired by Saida Desilates, Barry Long, Osho, Daniel Odier, Bruno Groening, Jacqueline Hobbs, Charles and Caroline Muir, Debbie Nargi-Brown and Tsultrum Allione.

The Invitation into the Lineage
Adyashanti gave me the Japanese Zen name Myoku which means wondrous Emptiness. For the time being I will be using Marlies Myoku. He asked me to teach in 2000.

My Life
A Marriage of Silence and Sensuality
I came into this world as Marlies Cocheret de la Moriniere. To friends, I am Marlies Myoku.
I was born in the vibrant paradox of Amsterdam, a city pulsating with both freedom and friction. From the very start, I was in search of an undefined truth I called “it.” I didn’t know what “it” was, but I was certain I would recognize it when I found it. Despite not growing up religious, I spent my early years in and out of various churches and temples, chasing that elusive truth—but “it” was nowhere to be found.
